So, I went to the doctor's on Wednesday, and mentioned the whole antipsychotics not working, need new brain thing, expecting him to increase my dosage/try something new and send me on my merry way, like he has in the past. But no... now he's decided that my mental condition is beyond his help, and I need to make an appointment with my (ever-elusive) CPN/keyworker to get it seen to. Which will take fuck-knows how long.

So yeah... apparently losing one's grip on reality isn't seen as particularly urgent. Nice to know.

Self-diagnosis is a fool's game, but my bipolar disorder is seeming more and more like schizoaffective disorder these days - the psychosis is setting in even when I'm not manic. Here's hoping not though.

"Beyond his help" huh. I mean, nice that he doesn't want to try anything he knows nothing about, in case it fucks you up, but you know... a referral to someone who could IMMEDIATELY help you would be nice, yes? >_> This seems like some bullshit. I'm really sorry to hear the meds aren't working. :( :( :(

I'm mostly upset because I thought I'd found the perfect antipsychotic... it was working and there were no nasty side-effects (well, it makes me drowsy, but I just take it at bed time and it means the side-effects are actually beneficial). Now I'll probably start on the fun for all the family ride of experimenting with new ones and the horrors they bring.

Call. Call and harass. Be a huge pain in their asses until something gets done. Leave a message every hour. Leave them emails twice daily. Make yourself as irritating as possible so they want to hand you off to someone who can help you just to get you off their backs.

Is your doctor attempting to refer you to someone with more expertise because s/he cares about your well-being? Or is s/he just trying to get rid of you? If it's the latter situation, then that's pretty shitty. :/

IDK - I'm sure it's the former, but it felt like the latter. Then again I tend to be pretty paranoid. ^^;

Hope everything works out okay and soon. I didn't realize you really needed it? I feel like a bad friend now because I really like you and want you to be okay. Anytime a situation like this arises I say be a squeaky wheel. Don't let them push you off.

Aw don't feel bad... you weren't to know. I've kept it pretty quiet. And things should be okay, once I get to see my CPN. As to when that happens, however...

I agree with another commenter - make yourself such a pain in the ass that they HAVE to deal with you. Our federal medical administration is a mess over here, so I can't imagine it's much better where you are. Don't let yourself fall through the cracks.

In the meanwhile, I really hope you're okay, and I really, really hope the diagnosis isn't worse than you think. Take care, Paul. <3
