[Error: unknown template qotd]I would have said House of Leaves (Mark Z Danielewski), but it's not the easiest book in the world to read with all the footnotes & weird layouts. Then I would've said The Shining or IT (Stephen King both), but they're both doorstops. Haunted (Chuck Palahniuk) was my next choice, but yeah... not for the squeamish (Guts, anyone?).

So I'll go with Dark Water by Koji Suzuki.

House of Leaves huh? I agree, it's pretty hard to read but it was superb. But not the book I'd recommend others.

Koji Suzuki? Of Ring fame? Interesting choices.

House of Leaves is a pain in the ass to read. I almost threw it in the ocean when I was trying to read it last year.

To be honest, I thought Only Revolutions was worse (he wrote it from 2 different POVs, and suggests you flip the book over & read the other one every 8 pages or so).

just to jump in on this....

Only Revolutions pisses me off to no end. I've still only read like 4 pages of it, and I have no idea what the hell they were about. x_x
