I hate that getting a hug and a peck on the cheek from Will before I got on the bus home today had me worried the entire journey back that after I'd left he'd got beaten up for it. We shouldn't have to worry about things like that, for fuck's sake.

I'm glad that both of you are all right. That's one thing I DON'T relish about the prospect of getting read as male more often— all the mild PDA that notgarystu and I exhibit could come back to bite us in the ass. Most people seem to read us as a straight couple right now. Though even then, I dress in a way that seems to sometimes get us side-eyed. idk, have you ever learned self-defense or anything? Do you carry anything? Or do you just take in a deep breath and hope to the stunningly unpopulated heavens...

I don't get much trouble myself, thanks to how intimidating I look (while I'm kinda femme and useless in a fight, I'm also 6'4" and built like a fridge). Just in case of trouble I keep my keys within easy reach when I'm walking through a bad area or alone at night though - an ersatz knuckleduster can make even my crappy punches more of a threat. IDK how well Will can handle himself though, hence the worry; he's pretty scrawny.

What makes me angry is that we even have to think about stuff like this - self-defence shouldn't be a topic so naturally linked to PDAs.
