Well, that "little old lady" was being a major little bitch, you don't mouth off at the cops, no matter your age. The officer shouldn't have used his taser at all, sadly he really had no other choice because either way he's fucked because this is a "helpless, feeble, little old lady". Put his hands on her; they'd say he beat her or used aggressive force, ride her off; they'd call bullshit because she's getting off a ticket, cuff her; get butthurt because a old woman was arrested,(WTF like older people can't do anything illegal or wrong?)which he did anyway. And besides, he did just what she wanted him to do, she was asking for it.

The officer should have been able to handle this a thousand times better, but the old woman shouldn't have been such a bitch. I'd have slapped her across the face myself if I'd met her.

I personally can't stand this mentality because its like the elderly can get away with anything, the old man that crashed into a walmart, I haven't heard any charges being filed. He did nearly kill a mother and her baby and almost injured many other people, but no no, its fine because he's old. If that had been me, a student driver, I'd have been arrested and charged on the spot. I know the elderly have slower reaction times, but that's no excuse.

I'd agree except that old people tend to have weaker hearts; if you electrocute them there's a good chance they'll die on you.

Yes, that is understandable. Though there's that same chance on anyone really, so while very valid, it should pertain to anyone with a heart condition. Even drunkards at 2 A.M. who look like Heavies.

Quite (and one of the reasons I'm not a fan of tasers). It's exponentially more likely to happen with an old person though.

Yes, very true. Wonder if there's any real alternative to a taser though. Pepper spray is just horrible and you never know who will be allergic, hands on force just never ends well.

I can't see anaphylaxis-style allergy being a real issue with capsaicin (most I've ever heard of is digestive intolerance or a rash from the stuff - not too terrible, really). Seems like the best alternative.

Well I do remember I got a rash from it myself, my friend was in horrible shape though. Real bad airway irritation and maybe some slight constriction because she was unable to talk properly the next day. And quite a few people were having a similar reaction.

Not nice, but then it's not supposed to be. "Chance of mild-to-medium allergic reaction" is a far cry from "chance of death" though.

A very good point. Defiantly the lesser of two evils.

If it's a person who warrants being pepper sprayed you're not going to worry (or care) if they're allergic to it or not.

What the FUCK is wrong with the Texas police department? She's 72 goddamn years old. Tasers are supposed to be only be used in situation similar to ones you'd use involving a goddamn handgun. A taser is a WEAPON, not a sedation device.

Not just Texas...

(or even the States for that matter... the police over here are also decidedly zap-happy)
