Basically, yeah: UK = Great Britain & most of Ulster; Great Britain = the big island; England = the bit that isn't Scotland or Wales (or debatably, Cornwall).
if it's not a country, then what is it?
Nowadays, it's not much more than a ceremonial subdivision of Great Britain - kind of like New England or The South over there.
