Any pasta that isn't lasagne or cannelloni. If pasta actually counts as food and not something that's supposed to be used in children's craft projects, that is.

The texture... rubbery, yet slimy. Like eating half-melted tyres, only less flavoursome. IDK why I'm fine with lasagne and cannelloni though; I guess it's the ratio of pasta to actual food or something.

My borshch recipe. :D
  • A cheap cut of beef (a couple of pieces of frying steak will do)
  • An onion
  • A beef stock cube
  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder
  • Half a cabbage (one of those white ones that look like bowling balls)
  • 2 beetroots
  • 4 carrots
  • A couple of squirts of ketchup (preferably the spicy kind)
  • Salt
  • Black Pepper
  • Smetana to serve (creme fraiche or plain yoghurt will do if you can't get that)

Cut the ends off and peel the onion.
Put in a big pan with the beef, the stock cube, salt, pepper, chilli powder and loads of water.
Bring to boil, then simmer for about 45 minutes, removing surface scum as it forms.
Finely shred the cabbage.
Once the stock's done, remove & discard the onion, remove and put to one side the beef and add the cabbage. Simmer until the cabbage wilts down.
Peel & grate the carrots and beetroots, then saute with ketchup until mushy.
Chop the beef into small pieces, then add both the beef and the red sludge to the cabbage soup.
Simmer for another 45 minutes or so.
Serve with smetana, salt & pepper and lots of bread.
Eat.
