A combination of athletic tape, gauze, and super glue / liquid bandage (cuticles/fingerpads) should make it fine, though you'll be a bit slow on some single-string passagework :)

He's got a checkup tomorrow (to make sure he's not doing it because he's hurt or anything), and I'm making plans to get him debollocked - hopefully it won't come to getting rid of him.
