K - finally seen it now. I gave up waiting for people not to be busy shopping, working stupid hours, giving their cats away to new homes, traipsing around cathedrals etc. and just downloaded the damn thing - I'll most likely be going to see it in the pictures when someone can manage to go with me (no fun in going on my own) so no big deal, really.

Will anyone stop talking to me if I said my verdict was "good", as opposed to "the second coming"? I liked it well enough, but still not sold on Michael Caine as Alfred (whatever that man does he's always just The Michael; he's got a bit of the Jack Nicholson syndrome going on there...), and speaking of The Jack, was it just me or did Ledger seem to be doing a half-arsed impersonation of him for pretty much the whole film? Also: NO MORE 5 YEAR CAR CHASES PLZ.

Having said that I really did like it; much better than the rest of the dross around at the moment. Two-Face was great, and (apart from the Jackvoice) the Joker was spot-on, with particular love going to the scene where he's walking out of the exploding hospital. :D I liked how they kept him open for coming back too - never really forgave Burton for killing him off (probably won't happen for obvious reasons, but then thingy who got blew up was her out of Donnie Darko this time around, so it's not like they're averse to using different actors). Hopefully he'll return in a future sequel complete with Harley. <3

JOKER + HARLEY = INSTANT WIN. I'm hoping for that so much. However, it's sad that Ledger can't be Joker again. The entire hospital scene is pure love, but, yes, much love going to Nurse!Joker and the semi-faulty detonator.

That said, I came out a Harvey Dent fangirl (Aaron Eckhart is just 8D). It really broke my heart to see how corrupted he became by the end even though I knew it was coming. I will be upset if Two-Face doesn't return in another movie. He's too much of a main villain not to.

I'd be surprised if he did (Two-Face has always been somewhat a "gimmick" villain, really - hard to write too much of him without it getting samey), but having said that they did put a lot of thought into how he was portrayed in this film - it'd be a shame for them to just leave it at that.
