It may end up going to appeals and possibly to the SCOTUS. There is still a road ahead of California, but if this does go to SCOTUS, it may have significant remifications for the country. After all, Prop 8 was overturned because it violated the US Federal Constitution. That means if it goes to the SCOTUS and they uphold the judicial ruling, then NO State level Gay Marriage ban will hold water.

I suspect that the SCOTUS might refuse to take the appeal because of this.
