fanfic100 - #12 (Orange)
Characters: Xehanort, Even (Ansem's POV)
Summary: Ansem recalls the day he found Xehanort
Words: 164
His eyes - that was the first thing I saw - the first thing I remember of my beloved apprentice. Those baleful orange eyes, staring up at me in fear and mistrust from the dark alley he had made his home. Eyes that hastily looked away when I offered him shelter - what must he have thought of this old man taking in strangers from the street?
He remembered nothing of his life before - no memory of his family, where he came from; even who he was. Even took a particular interest in him, determined to restore his memories. Without these he could be nothing - memories are our heart; they’re what make us who we are.
He named him Xehanort - an anagram of “No heart” with an “X” added to confuse the boy, stop him decoding it straight away. Rather cruel of him, but the boy took the name without question. Still, I don’t think it fits him - although lacking in memories he is far from heartless.
